Case construction

Build the case around the equipment and how it is used.

We build ATA cases with wood or plastic panels, metal edging and fitted hardware. The equipment weight, interior supports and loading clearance help determine the construction and overall size.

  • Support sensitive equipment

Hold instruments and electronics at suitable contact points. Leave clearance around displays, lenses, connector pins and controls.

  • Plan loading configuration

Identify what will be removed first and whether any equipment needs to remain accessible inside the case.

Interior organization and access

  • Custom foam inserts and cutouts

Fitted foam pockets separate devices and accessories. We offer PE, PU and XLPE foam in various densities and colors. Anti-static foam options are available to meet any electrostatic discharge requirements.

  • Trays, shelves and dividers

Keep cables, tools and small accessories separate from larger devices. Trays and shelves provide access at different levels.

  • Hinged lids and removable sides

Choose an opening that provides room to load equipment and reach it during use. We can review removable covers for the case design.

Construction and movement

  • Aluminum edging and ball corners

Fit metal edging around the panels and rounded corner hardware at the case corners.

  • Recessed hardware

Recessed handles and latches sit within fitted hardware cups. We can review lock requirements with the case design.

  • Wheels and telescopic handles

Choose telescopic or spring-loaded handles and swivel or recessed casters for the packed weight, floors and loading areas.

Stacking cases allows for more efficient packing in warehouses and trucks. If stacking is needed, we can discuss the stacking configuration and add caster cups to the design.

Common applications

ATA cases for electronics that travel between locations.

The equipment list helps determine which items need fitted support, separate compartments or an open storage area.

Video and imaging equipment

Arrange cameras, monitors, lenses and accessories so each item can be removed without pressing on delicate surfaces.

Lighting and cabling

Allow room for fixtures, cable bundles and support equipment. Larger assemblies may need open compartments; smaller components can use fitted foam pockets.

Our process

Design, review and build the case.

We prepare the design and quote from your current equipment information.

  1. List what travels together

Provide the equipment and accessory list, dimensions, weights and drawings or models. Identify delicate areas, loading needs, quantity and target date.

  2. Review the layout and quote

Check the proposed dimensions, support points, openings and hardware. Design assistance and quotes are free, with no obligation to purchase.

  3. Check fit and approve

Request changes before approving production. If a hands-on check would help, a physical prototype is optional and quoted separately.

  4. Build and retain the design

We build the approved case and confirm delivery arrangements. We retain the design for repeat orders and review changes to equipment or accessories before rebuilding.

Contact us to discuss product selection, design requirements or an order.

Tell us the required packaging specifications, tests, shipping restrictions and exposure to water or dust before design begins. We review these for the proposed case. The ATA name alone does not establish a tested rating or airline acceptance.
