Medical equipment packaging

ATA cases for medical equipment.

A custom enclosure for repeated transport and easy access.

Vol Case builds custom ATA road cases for medical equipment moving between facilities, demonstrations and field locations. We design the case dimensions, interior and openings around the equipment and how your team loads and uses it. We supply cases to companies nationwide.

Plan your case

Free design & quoting. No obligation.

Closed shallow black case with metal edging and recessed latches.

Built to fit

Allow room for the main device, cushioning and the accessories that travel with it.

Access where needed

Choose openings, trays and shelves for loading, removal and access to the equipment.

Ready for repeat orders

Retain the approved case and interior design, with revisions when equipment changes.

Case construction

Build the case around the equipment.

An ATA case uses wood or plastic panels, metal edging and hardware to create a custom enclosure. We choose the panel thickness, finish and hardware for the equipment weight and intended handling.

  • Edges and corners

Aluminum edging joins and protects the panel edges. Ball corners protect exposed corners during handling.

  • Recessed hardware

Recessed handles and latches limit protrusions. Their positions need to work with the openings and the supports inside the case.

Equipment and handling

Plan loading configuration.

Measure the equipment as it will travel, including attachments and accessories. The loaded weight and the space available to open the case affect the design.

Support and clearance
Identify where the equipment can rest or be secured. Show screens, probes, connectors, controls and other surfaces that must stay clear of the foam or case.
Loading and removal
Tell us how the device will be lifted, which items come out first and whether access is needed while it remains in the case. Include clearance for lids, doors and removable panels.
Transport and storage
Describe vehicle loading, doorways, floor surfaces and available storage space. Include exposure to moisture, dust or temperature changes and any required transport tests.
Material and cleaning requirements
Share the cleaning agents, cleaning methods and material restrictions that apply to the case and interior. We review the proposed materials against those requirements before you approve the design.

Your options

Choose the interior, openings and handling features.

Each option has a practical job. We combine them around the equipment and the people who will pack, move and unpack it.

Support and organize the contents

  • Foam lining and fitted cutouts

Foam can line the case or form pockets around individual devices and accessories. PE, PU and XLPE are available in different densities and colors. We choose CNC routing or waterjet cutting to suit the foam and pocket features; PU foam is waterjet cut.

  • Dividers, trays and shelves

Separate cables, probes and other accessories from the main device. Trays and shelves can keep items accessible at different levels.

  • Static-sensitive electronics

Anti-static foam options are available to meet any electrostatic discharge requirements.

Open and close the case

  • Hinged lids and removable panels

A hinged lid stays attached when opened. A removable lid or side panel can provide a clear path to load the device or reach its controls.

  • Latches and locks

Choose closure hardware for the opening and handling plan. Tell us if locking provisions are required so we can review the available options.

Move and store the case

  • Handles and casters

Options include spring-loaded or telescoping handles and swivel or recessed casters. We choose their arrangement for the loaded weight and how the case will be carried or rolled.

  • Stacking

Stacking cases allows for more efficient packing in warehouses and trucks. If stacking is needed, we can discuss the stacking configuration and add caster cups to the design.

Common applications

Cases for diagnostic equipment and medical kits.

The equipment determines the support and access it needs. These examples help identify what to include in the design brief.

Ultrasound equipment

Plan space for the main unit, probes, cables and power accessories. Identify safe support points and the parts that need clearance when the case closes.

Diagnostic and measuring devices

Sensitive connectors, controls and projecting parts need room around them. Identify no-contact areas and any handling or transport checks required by the equipment manufacturer.

Read precision instrument packaging guidance

Testing and demonstration kits

Give the device and its accessories defined places so the team can check the contents, remove what is needed and repack the kit in the same order.

Our process

From equipment details to an approved case.

Design and quoting are free, with no purchase obligation. We work through the case size, access and interior before you approve production.

  1. Share the equipment details

Send dimensions, weights, drawings or photographs, quantities and the required delivery date. Include the handling, cleaning and test requirements that affect the packaging.

  2. Review the design

Check the openings, supports, foam layout and hardware positions. Confirm that the device and accessories can be loaded and removed as intended.

  3. Check and approve

We revise the design from your feedback. If a physical prototype would help check fit or handling, we quote it separately. You approve the final design before production.

  4. Build and retain the design

We build from the approved design and retain it for later orders. Tell us about changes to the device, accessories or packing sequence before reordering.

Production timing depends on the design, materials, quantity and approval date. Share the delivery schedule early so we can review it with the project.

Frequently asked questions

Medical ATA case questions.

Contact us to discuss product selection, design requirements or an order.

The case format alone does not establish compliance with a particular standard. Send the required specification and revision, including any ATA Specification 300, drop, vibration, cleaning or material requirements. We review the construction and any required testing for the actual package before confirming what we can provide.
